Although still far from ubiquitous, the number of stores which support Apple Pay is growing rapidly. Apple maintains a webpage that lists many of the biggest Apple Pay locations, but there’s an easier and more direct method to see if your favorite store supports this new secure payment technology: searching for the store with Apple Maps. Here’s how it works.
Before you head out the door to do some shopping, launch Apple Maps on your iPhone or iPad and search for the store(s) you plan to visit. For our example, we’ll check our regional grocery store, Wegmans.
Once you’ve found the store in Maps, tap on the box that appears above its pin to bring up the store’s information page. The information for each store featured on its info page is drawn from sources like Yelp, user submissions, and Apple’s own database, and will vary based on the amount of data available. If the store supports Apple Pay, however, you’ll see the Apple Pay logo to the right of the store’s category and price range info.
If you don’t have an iDevice or prefer to use OS X, you can find the same info via the Maps app on your Mac:
Apple is frequently updating Apple Maps data, including store information pages, so this method to check for Apple Pay support is probably your best bet for keeping tabs on your local merchants.
