TekRevue launched in April 2013 and is written by Jim Tanous (James M. Tanous to be specific; there are at least 7 others with the same first and last name so be sure to send your hate mail to the correct recipient).
Our goal is to provide only the most important and interesting stories from the world of technology, including PC software and hardware, Macs and OS X, mobile, and gaming. We’ll also be offering up plenty of hands-on product reviews and daily tips and tricks.
TekRevue has entered a crowded market, to be sure, with plenty of words and opinions on tech available from other sites. For many consumers with a general interest in technology, however, far too many sites miss the mark. Not every minor update to a smartphone is worthy of front-page news, and interesting descriptions of a new technology don’t always need to carry on for five pages. Sites that provide this level of coverage are crucial to the industry, and those with a deep interest in these niches will continue to find great value in them. But, for everyone else, we feel that there is a better solution, and that’s why TekRevue was created.
So here’s what we promise you: we’ll provide full coverage of the most important stories each day; we won’t be limited to covering a certain company or platform; we’ll try not to be verbose and take ten paragraphs to state what could be said in one; we’ll try not to be too brief and merely copy the headline of a company’s PR statement; and we’ll always offer an honest opinion that is unaffected by undue outside influences.
In short, this is the tech site that we’ve always wanted to read. Nobody else had yet offered it so we made it ourselves. Perhaps you’ll join us. We have cookies.
The Technical Stuff
TekRevue 1.0 launched in late April 2013. Based upon some great feedback from our readers, we launched TekRevue 2.0 in December 2013, with an entirely new design by Blazer Six. TekRevue is published on the WordPress platform.
