As expected, Apple unveiled the iPad Air 2 today. The new model is even thinner than the first iPad Air, while still packing in a 2nd generation 64-bit architecture A8X SoC for 40 percent faster CPU performance and 2.5x faster GPU performance than its direct predecessor.
Other new features include an improved iSight camera with support for panoramas, time lapse, and burst and slow-motion modes, a new screen coating that reduces reflections up to 56 percent, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, faster LTE, Touch ID support, and a new Gold color option.
The iPad Air will be available with Wi-Fi for $499 / $599 / $699 for 16GB / 64GB / 128GB capacities, respectively, and Wi-Fi + Cellular for $629 / $729 / $829 in the same capacity options.
Pre-orders will be available Friday, October 17 with shipments beginning at the end of next week.
