Popular media software Plex is out with some big updates to its Chromecast player this week. New features include music and photo support, better streaming with support for higher bitrate video, and content mirroring to allow users to see media library details on the big screen.

Google’s Chromecast just picked up a great new app. Plex, the excellent home media server and client software, is now available on Google’s tiny and affordable streaming device, although you have to be a PlexPass member to check it out right away.
Plex, the incredibly powerful and flexible home media server, is running a “back to school” sale on its mobile apps for iOS and Android. Both are available for $1.99 until Wednesday, a significant discount over the apps’ standard price of $4.99.
