SpotBright is a Free App That Automatically Downloads Windows Spotlight Images

By Jim Tanous on January 18, 2016 at 1:41 PM • @mggjim

We recently discussed how Windows 10 users can find and download the Windows Spotlight images that are featured on the operating system’s lock screen. While the process is relatively easy once you get the hang of it, those who prefer a simpler solution can now turn to a free app instead.

Don’t wait another day to Level Up Your Life! Join the Nerd Fitness Rebellion and learn how to use your favorite video games, books, and movies as inspiration for adventure rather than an escape from the grind of everyday life.

SpotBright, a universal Windows 10 app available now on the Microsoft Store, is a free utility that automatically locates the constantly-updated Windows Spotlight images and downloads them to your PC, tablet, or Windows Phone.

Users can set a custom location for SpotBright to store the images it downloads, configure the app to notify you when new Windows Spotlight images are found, and even have the app automatically update your Windows 10 lock screen or desktop background. SpotBright also works when the Windows Spotlight feature is disabled, meaning that users can set custom personal images as their lock screen background without missing out on new Windows Spotlight images.

As mentioned, the app is free for all functions, and supported by a banner ad within the app. Those who want to remove the ad or support the developer can upgrade to “SpotBright Pro” via a $0.99 in-app purchase.

In its current form, SpotBright isn’t the most attractive app (which is ironic, considering that it helps you easily obtain some rather stunning images), but it makes it simple to find and update your library of Windows Spotlight images with just a few clicks.
