Unlike previous developer builds which could be obtained via the Mac App Store’s Software Update, the OS X Mavericks GM must be downloaded separately after developers obtain a new code from the Mac Dev Center.
Also included in Thursday night’s updates are a GM build of Xcode 5.0.1 and an update to iPhoto 9.4.7, which Apple says fixes issues with the photo editing software on the Mavericks GM build. Earlier on Thursday, Apple also released a supplemental update of OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5, aimed at fixing issues related to FaceTime, external hard drives, HDMI audio, and Bluetooth adapters.
OS X Mavericks is expected to see a public release this month. The new operating system will be distributed to existing users via the Mac App Store. Pricing remains unknown, but many expect Apple to continue the pricing model of OS X Mountain Lion, which was released in late July 2012 for $19.99.
