The folks at Cult of Mac directed our attention this morning to an intriguing mockup of an iOS 7-style version of OS X. Created by Texas artist Edgar Rios, the design takes many of the key elements of iOS 7 – flat and colorful icons, frosted glass, borderless buttons – and applies them to Cupertino’s venerable desktop operating system. The end result is a beautiful design…if you happen to like the iOS 7 aesthetic, that is.

While the design for Apple’s upcoming OS X Mavericks, set for release in the next month or two, is already fairly well settled, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple bring more iOS style to Mavericks’s eventual successor.
