The folks at Cult of Mac directed our attention this morning to an intriguing mockup of an iOS 7-style version of OS X. Created by Texas artist Edgar Rios, the design takes many of the key elements of iOS 7 – flat and colorful icons, frosted glass, borderless buttons – and applies them to Cupertino’s venerable desktop operating system. The end result is a beautiful design…if you happen to like the iOS 7 aesthetic, that is.

While the design for Apple’s upcoming OS X Mavericks, set for release in the next month or two, is already fairly well settled, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Apple bring more iOS style to Mavericks’s eventual successor. To see the complete mockup, check out the high quality images over at Behance.
