Popular file syncing and storage service Dropbox is down Friday. While users can still access local files, online access via the Web and syncing functions on computers and devices are unavailable.
The Dropbox website shows an error message, although the service’s forums and Help Center remain available as of the time of this article. Dropbox is aware of the outage and promises that user files stored via the service are safe.
There is no indication yet as to when users can expect a restoration of service. Until then, users are unable to access data not already stored locally on Dropbox-enabled devices. We’ll update this article when new information appears.
Update: And just like that, the service is back online. Dropbox has yet to reveal the cause of the outage.
