Parallels announced Desktop 9, the latest version of the company’s OS X virtualization software, on Thursday. We’re preparing an in-depth review for next week but we worked with The Mac Observer to publish a series of preliminary performance benchmarks.
The benchmarks cover a variety of areas and compare Windows 7 performance via native Boot Camp to virtual machines under both Parallels 9 and its predecessor, Parallels 8. Overall, Parallels 9 brings slight improvements in raw performance to most areas, although DirectX 10 rendering gets a huge 430 percent boost.
Check out The Mac Observer for the full set of benchmarks and stay tuned for a deeper look at Parallels 9, including benchmarks for other guest operating systems including Linux and OS X itself.
