Updated for April 2017. Microsoft’s Games with Gold program launched last year, but with two more games coming out each month, it’s getting difficult to keep track of which games are free and when. Due to reader interest, we’ve compiled an archive of the games to date, and we’ll update the list each month as more games are announced.
Xbox Live Games with Gold May 2015
Xbox Live members will get three new free games in May as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold program. CastleStorm: Definitive Edition will come to the Xbox One, while Xbox 360 owners will get Mafia II and F1 2013.
Microsoft Intros $399 Kinect-less Xbox One, Expands Games with Gold
Microsoft continues to trail the PS4 in worldwide sales, and is introducing some major changes to the Xbox One that it hopes will narrow the gap. Starting in June, the company will launch a $399 version of the console without Kinect, expand Games with Gold, and decouple entertainment apps like Netflix from an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
Halo 3 Free in October as Part of Xbox 360 Games with Gold Promo
We can’t imagine that many Xbox 360 owners haven’t played Halo 3, but if you’re one of them, and you’re also an Xbox Live Gold subscriber, make sure you log in this month to pick up Bungie’s 2007 hit for free as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold promotion.
