MasterCard Proposes Linking Credit Cards to Smartphone Locations to Combat Fraud

MasterCard this week unveiled plans for a new security service that would pair customer credit cards with smartphone geolocation data to verify purchases made while traveling abroad. The plan, rolling out now as a limited pilot program, would help customers avoid fraudulent charges as well as ill-timed declined transactions while traveling.
