CBS is expanding its NFL playoff streaming options this year, announcing this week that it will offer live game streams of its entire AFC Playoff schedule to PCs, Macs, tablets, and smartphones. Starting with the AFC wildcard contest between the San Diego Chargers and the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday at 1:05 PM EST, the network will go on to offer live streams of the AFC divisional games on January 11th and 12th, and the AFC Championship game on the 19th.

All games will be available at the CBS Sports website, although those in local markets may face a blackout if some games don’t sell out in time. Refreshingly, online viewers will not need to provide log-in credentials for any pay TV service, a requirement that has become common for many streaming services. All online visitors should be able to view the live games with only a modern Web browser.
For NFC fans, the online streaming picture is a bit less rosy. FOX will live-stream the Super Bowl for free to U.S. visitors on February 2nd, but live-streams of NFC playoff games will be restricted to those with paid subscriptions to major cable providers like Comcast, AT&T U-verse, and Cablevision. Those meeting that criterion can find NFC games at the Fox Sports Go website and via the FoxSportsGo mobile app.
As fans of the Buffalo Bills, the TekRevue staff doesn’t really have to worry about this mysterious thing called the “playoffs,” but for most everyone else, 2014 looks to be a great year for easy access to online football.
